Carabelle

I while ago I shot in a lovely 70s style caravan for Swedish Mama magazine.
Everything from the cushions to the curtains and even the kitchen units were in keeping with the 70's look, how very retro.
Have a look at the final images, photography by Malin Ngoie, styling Patricia Back and Louise Rizelle, model Keeley Sheppard and hair&makeup by me.

For a closer look at the location have a look here.

Tiered Apple Pie Wedding Cake

Last weekend was my sisters wedding, a very lovely affair for which I made the wedding cake.
The bride and groom didn't want a traditional wedding party, they wanted a more informal celebration. As they both adore my apple pie I thought it would be a lovely idea to make them an apple pie wedding cake!

Initially I wanted to stack the cakes, but as the pies are very soft due to the fruit filling I didn't want to risk the wedding cake falling down mid party. So I diced to make a couple cake stands in different height so you still have the stacked cake feel but with way more stability.
Cake stands are very easy to make yourself, these are all plates and bowls found in Ikea and Hema.
Find a plate in the size of your pie, look for a cup/bowl/vase to match and glue them together. It is so easy and frugal I don't understand why anybody would pay big bucks for a ready made cake stand. And you can costumize the colours to fit your party!

Have a look at the end result

And how cute is the wedding topper!! I had it handmade by the lovely Molly Clark from Love Birds Goods, have a look at their website here. You give Molly all the details of the bride and grooms clothes, flowers, hair etc and she paints the topper to match. The cake topper comes with the banner and the stand, so sweet!

To match the cake topper and to give the pies a bit of decoration I made mini bunting out of yarn and washi tape, the colours of cource matching the theme of the wedding ;)
Just stick the tape to your yarn, press it tohether and cut into a bunting shape.

Okay slicing and dicing all the apples required for 6 apple pies was a bit of a job but I think it was well worth it!

RijksStudio

Winterlandschap met schaatsers by Hendrick Avercamp

Happy New Year all!! Cant believe its already the 17th of January! Had some problems on the blog with uploading pictures, hence the big silence. But will be back a couple of times a week with new makeup and lifestyle updates!

Last year the Dutch Rijks Museum launched an online database, RijksStudio
 www.rijksstudio.nl
More then 125.000 objects out of their collection has been made available online in pin-sharp clarity for your own personal use! You can make your own Rijksstudio profile in which you can save details of paintings you find inspiring. Share them with your friends, or download the whole image to use as your laptops wallpaper. What about having a print done and have your own Rembrandt on your wall? Rijksstudio offers a printing service on canvas, poster, aluminium, perspex or as greeting cards. But you can download the file as well and have your own artwork made.
Does this all sound a bit to plane for you, then what about using your favourite art work on your car? Or on a dress? Have a look at these creations other people made.
Anything can be pimped with a RijksMuseum masterpiece, your wallpaper, your mobile, your scooter or your clothes. Have a look at the video to get even more inspired, the text is in Dutch but the Rijksstudio website can be viewed in English as well.
There is no stopping you now in starting the New Year with some style!
