Vanity Fair

Have a look at these fun images from my latest Italian Vanity Fair shoot.
Styled by Ellie Lines and shot by Igor Borisov this was such a fun shoot to do!
Trying to get a pony on a porch? Putting a hat on a sausage dog? Whats not to like?
What you cant see is that the location was absolutely boiling, I recon it was close to 40degrees C, luckily there was a pool the kids could chill in there while the grown ups were sweating away :)
Hope you like the images!

We were shooting in a very old colonial style house in the middle of nowhere, from the porch you had the most breath taking views over South Africa's country side.

The Hester chair

This morning I flipped through a magazine to find a picture of this gorgeous chair, in my favourite colour, Blue, out of my favourite material, wood, and its called....Hester!
Can you believe it? I cant, secretly hope this chair was designed with me in mind ;)
This beautiful piece of furniture is from Habitat and have a look what is says on their website
 chair description:

Drawing on the colourful and bustling cafĂ© culture of Amsterdam’s canal-side eateries, Hester brings refectory dining into your home with a 21st century twist. Each piece comes in a vibrantly coloured matt powder-coat finish, setting off the ply oak veneer seat to perfection.

Dutch inspired? Classic meets modern? My favourite colour and material? Bearing my name? I feel a birthday present coming up!!

The chairs cost £120 and can also be ordered from their website www.habitat.co.uk

Easter cake

Happy Easter all you ByHester Bunnies!!
Hope you are enjoying your long weekend,  Easter is my favourite holiday, you have bunnies, eggs, daffodils, light bright colours, spring and (sometimes) sunshine, whats not to like?
The get the best from all things spring I've made this citrus cake with lemon drizzle and edible cornflowers. Fancy having a go your self? Here's the recipe.

Ingredients
125 grams butter
125 grams sugar
2 eggs
250 grams flour
3 tbl spoons baking powder
1/8 l milk
a (blood)orange
a lemon
200grams cream cheese
100 grams icing sugar
edible flowers

Make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature. Cream the butter with the sugar with a mixer and add the eggs one by one. Keep mixing until all the sugar has dissolved. Sieve the flour and baking powder and add little by little to the butter mixture. Also add the milk and the juice of one blood orange. Spoon your mixture into a loaf tin and bake in a preheated oven on 175C for 45 minutes.
Check if your cake is cooked by inserting a skewer into the middle, if it comes out clean your cake is ready. let your cake cool down on a wire rack.
Make the lemon cream cheese drizzle by adding the juice of one lemon with the cream cheese and icing sugar. Mix this until smooth and glossy. Poor the drizzle over a slice of cake and decorate with edible flowers.

Book tip!

It has been a little bit quiet on the blog this week, was working such long days that I didn't had time to go online. You know when you get home and only have half an hour to relax before you should be in bed? When you just want to curl up on the sofa with a cup of tea and a book? Well I found the book for you!I picked up a copy of 'Domestic sluttery' by Sian Meades in my local library but I might just actually go and purchase it.
Have you always been inspired to be a domestic goddess but dont like having to work hard at it? The team behind www.domesticsluttery.com show you how to cheat your way into the good life. From home decorating to party planning, cupboard essentials to vintage clothes and cocktail shaking this book is full of great tips. I'm definitely going to try the homemade granola recipe, it sounds so simple I don't think I will ever get store bought again. (will blog about the how to soon) According to the back cover over this book  'Is not a lifestyle guide for Stepford Wives, but rather an invitation to live life to the full, with permission to make mistakes along the way.'
Sound like my kind of book!
