Nails

This week I'm mobile blogging from Hamburg so my layouts are a bit more basic.

What to do when you spend your evenings in a tiny hotel room, try out new nail polishes!
As most of you have noticed this season there is lots more on offer then your classic reds. There are sparkling topcoats, bright tones, natural treys and crackling top coats. The last one I have just tried out.
OPI has a black crackle top coat in their Katy Perry collection. I tried out the Barry M version, instant nail effect.

You first apply a layer of coloured nail polish, when that is dry you apply the crackle top coat. This is a black nail polish that shrinks when it dries. With in seconds your nails have a great design.
It's a quick way to give your last season coloured a new leash of life.
Like my Chanel 527 of last summer. Looking forward in trying this black top coat with a deep blue polish, or a sparkle.

Glamorous life

This is a blog for all you guys that think being a makeup artist is very glamorous. This week I'm in Hamburg, Germany, for an advertising job.
Here a peek of were I'm staying for the last couple of nights. I think a prison cell must be bigger!! :)

Then again there must be something zen about just having to take one step to the bathroom, one step to the desk and one step to the door. :)

Also sometimes on shoots you get asked to do something that has nothing to do with your job. For example on Tuesday the clothes stylist and me had to lay a grass floor, a good time to discover a hidden talent! Time to put grass stylist on my skills list! :)

Wedding magazine

In the February/March issue of Wedding magazine you can find a beautiful shoot I did with the lovely Lorna Freytag. Lorna is an amazing photographer with an unique style. She photographs the models in front of a white background, she then shoots all the background images, props etc. When all that is done Lorna brings the whole story together in her computer.

Have a look at the Wedding magazine story for which I did the hair and makeup.

Zpagetti

For my last birthday I got a big ball of Zpagetti a great new knitting/crocheting product.
It is a cotton yarn made from offcuts from the textile industry, so very environment friendly!
As fashion changes every season, and the colours of garments change, Zpagetti changes as well so every season there are a whole variety of fashionable colours.
There isn't a place that stocks it in the UK yet, but its very popular in Holland and widely available there.
You can also order from the web shop, click here to go to the hooked website.

I knitted a pillow from my blue yarn

(Even Wilfred the WorstHund is making a little appearance)

There are a lot of different things you can do
with Zpagetti, crochet a bag, make jewelery,
knit a food stool and lots more.
See here some images I found online.

Homemade Christmas

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and new years! And all my best wishes for 2011!!

Did you manage to make some of your presents this year? I made some little hampers for the ultimate cheeseboard. I made some chutneys, dill and fennel crackers and apple syrup. I also made some Christmas cookies and earl grey chocolate truffles.
Thanks to a little help from the Martha Stewart website for the packaging templates and some amazing food gift bags I found (they are from Millie's kitchen) the results looked real professional.
